Optiv Cybersecurity Dictionary

What is AI Security?

Artificial intelligence (AI) security refers to the practices designed to protect AI systems from malicious attacks and cybersecurity threats. With AI being widely adopted across industries – including high-risk industries such as healthcare, financial services and insurance, AI models and systems have become prime targets for cyberattacks.

Focusing more on proactively identifying, assessing and mitigating potential cybersecurity risks and vulnerabilities related to AI, the goal of AI security is to protect AI systems and data from malicious use by both internal and external cyberthreat actors. To address these risks, AI security can be incorporated within security operations, data security, infrastructure security, application security and other critical areas.
