Security Impact of the Rapid Growth of IoT (Internet of Things)

The emergence of IoT (Internet of Things) and mobile devices has multiplied in the past five years. In this 30 minute presentation, the impact of this growth will be outlined from a security perspective. The danger of these potentially unsecured, internet-connected hardware and devices will be outlined. Examples of known exploits and their business impact will be presented. These ramifications can range from DDoS, unauthorized access to networks, and exposure to sensitive data. A brief description of what an IoT is and how it can impact security will be given. How testing for vulnerabilities is different from Web application for these devices and tools that can be used to perform this testing.
