What is DDI (DNS, DHCP, IPAM)?

DDI solutions (DNS, DHCP and IP address management) provide organizations with tools to efficiently manage IP address management (IPAM), as well as DNS and DHCP services management across the network. Many enterprises still manage IPAM manually, a process that’s time-consuming, error-prone and difficult to update. Manual processes also lack built-in automation, don't provide a consolidated view of IP address allocation and available space and don’t easily allow the administrator to create audit or compliance reports.

DDoS attacks and other DNS-related threats can flood you with malicious requests and crash your network. Standard DDoS solutions don’t understand DNS and can’t prevent DNS attacks (for instance, cache poisoning, DNS hijacking, reflection attacks, amplification attacks, etc.).

A fully integrated DDI solution typically comprises IP address management, DNS services, and DCHP services and provides the necessary tools to configure, automate, integrate and administer the IP addresses and related services. They can be hardware-based, open source, software or cloud-based. With a wide variety of available approaches, enterprises should evaluate carefully and identify the most appropriate solution for their specific requirements.
